KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – The Rockhurst Hawks scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings to walk off with a 5-4 victory in game one of a four-game series against the Truman Bulldogs. The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

After the Bulldogs had taken a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth inning on Charlie Kreh's fourth hit of the night, the Hawks' Nick Pascuzzi drew a lead-off walk in their half of the inning. A stolen base and an infield single moved the runner up to third. Joey Mancuso tied the game with a sac fly to center.

Truman stranded a runner in the ninth.

Mitch Stickney coxed a two-out walk then swiped second to move into scoring position. He would score the winning run on a pinch-hit RBI single to right by Brett Marr.

Rockhurst struck first when David Stober led off the third with a double and later scored.

Truman took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning. Brendan Trimble and Adam Gregorich both singled and Kreh pulled the ball into right field to score one. Kreh later moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and came in on a two-run single by Wyatt Fones.

The lead was short lived. Rockhurst scored two runs on wild pitches in the bottom of the fourth.

Kreh broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the eighth with a two-out single that scored Nick Agliolo.

Peter Young was hit with both the tying run in the eighth and winning run in the ninth to suffer his first loss of the season. The four Bulldog pitchers, including starter Kent Frantz, issued nine total walks on the evening.
