NOTES: Bulldogs Look To Turn Fortunes At #10 Drury Thursday

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The calendar page turns to February and hopefully the results of the Truman Women's Basketball team. The Bulldogs are mired in a four-game losing streak and will have a tall order on their hands when they travel to #10 Drury on Thursday.

The Lady Panthers started Truman on this current streak with a 57-46 win in Pershing Arena on January 15. Drury led by only three points entering the fourth quarter and by three coming out of the media timeout at the 4:49 mark. The Bulldogs proceeded to turn the ball over five times and missed five straight shots while Drury hit seven of eight free throws and added four steals to cap off their 12th straight win over Truman. Sloane Totta led Truman with 12 points and Katie Jaseckas grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds while Hailey Diestelkamp paced the Lady Panthers with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Truman played last a week ago in the highest scoring game of the season at Maryville. Brooke Bailey's three-pointer with 12 seconds showing gave Truman a 89-79 lead, however the Saints' Kayla Steward knocked down a jumper at the free throw line with 4.2 seconds left and Truman fumbled away an inbounds pass in an attempt to win at the buzzer in an 82-80 loss to Maryvile.  Jaseckas led Truman with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Sam Andrews and Rachel Edmunson each finished with 14.

Drury cruised to a 101-46 win over William Jewell on Saturday. The Lady Panthers led by 15 at the end of the first quarter and shot 56% overall from the field for the game. Alice Heinzler earned GLVC Player of the Week honors after scoring a GLVC season-high 41 points. Heinzler knocked down nine three-pointers and added five steals and two assists in 31 minutes of action. It was the third straight win for the Lady Panthers and 18th of the season.

Game With Rockhurst:
On Saturday Truman returns home to face Rockhurst in a conference game. The Bulldogs downed the Hawks 75-52 on January 13 in Kansas City. Truman used a dominating second half to break open a 36-32 game at the break. Rachel Edmunson hit three of four three-pointers and finished with 14 points and was joined in double figure scoring with 10 off the bench from Brooke Bailey. Katie Jaseckas scored nine and grabbed 11 rebounds. For Rockhurst, Madline Ronshausen tallied 19 points.

Rockhurst is 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the GLVC. They are idle on Thursday having lost at Missouri S&T on Saturday 81-64. Ronshausen scored 23 points and Rockhurst knocked down 10 three-pointers in the loss.

Last 5 Games:
Truman is 1-4 in their last five games and are stuck in their longest losing stretch in GLVC games. The Bulldogs last lost four straight games during the 2011-12 season and haven't lost five games in-a-row since the 2009-10 campaign.

Katie Jaseckas is averaging a double-double over the past five outings with 10.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Rachel Edmundson is averaging 10.4 points and has hit eight three-pointers, the most by a Bulldog during the current stretch.

Truman has shot 38% overall 32% from three and 70% from the free throw line while opponents are shooting 42% overall, 31% from three and 74% at the line. The Bulldogs are averaging 18.6 turnovers per game and have a -4.4 turnover margin.

In the last five games, Truman is minus two in scoring for all five games in the first half but a -22 in the second half with -18 in the fourth quarter.  

About the Bulldogs:
Truman averages 69.0 points overall and 67.5 points in conference games.  

Head Coach Amy Eagan has used the same starting lineup for all 17 games this season. Freshman Katie Jaseckas leads the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game and rebounding at 7.8 per night. In league games, Jaseckas scores 12.0 points per night and in third in the conference in boards at 9.2 per game. She leads at GLVC freshman in scoring with 200 points, McKendree's Sydney Diekhoff is second with 181 points scored.

Sophomore Sloane Totta has started all 45 games in her Bulldog career and averages 5.5 points and 2.6 assists per game. In conference games, Totta scores at 5.9 per night and has 32 assists with five three-pointers.

Junior Rachel Edmundson has started the last 45 games and scores 8.2 points per game and 10.4 in league games. 15 of Edmundson's 17 triples have come in GLVC games and she shoots 81% from the line.

Senior Ashley Hartwig has started the last 33 games and is second in scoring at 8.9 points per game and rebounds at 4.6. Hartwig is averaging 6.4 points in conference and has eight steals.

Remy Davenport has started all 17 games as a Bulldog and the past 77 games she has played in. Davenport is a transfer from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and averages 6.0 points this season and 8.9 for her career.  In conference, Davenport averaging 7.6 points per game with 19 of her 26 triples. She is second, behind her sister Tiffany, in steals with 17.  
Off the bench, the Bulldogs bring a plethora of experience. Junior Brooke Bailey has started 30 of the 75 games and averages 6.6 points this season with 19 three pointers. Bailey has averaged 5.8 in
GLVC affairs.

Junior Rachel Steinhoff has 56 starts in 76 games as a Bulldog and has 51 career steals while averaging 6.3 points per game.

Senior Sam Andrews has played in 83 games with three starts and is averaging 4.7 points per game this year. Andrews is coming off a career high 14 points against Maryville with four three-pointers.
In 40 games off the bench, transfer senior Jamie Gleeson averages 3.0 points per game and shoots 58% from the field. Gleeson has a season-high 11 points against Missouri S&T on January 11.

Freshman Maya Mouton has played in 16 games with 10 blocks and 2.9 points per game. Mouton topped 11 points at Washburn on November 25 and has season-high eight rebounds against Indianapolis on January 18.

Junior Mackenzie Jerks has 53 games of experience. Jerks has appeared in 16 games and scored a season-high six points at McKendree on December 7.

Tiffany Davenport joins Jaseckas as the only freshman to play in all 17 games. Davenport leads the team with 22 steals and has 11 of her 16 made field goals from beyond the arc.

More Truman Tidbits:
Ashley Hartwig has the highest single-game point total this season with against Missouri Western. Hartwig has 33 double-figure scoring nights as a Bulldog and a career high 23 coming against Maryville last season. Hartwig will be playing in her 102nd game tonight, eight away from cracking the Truman top 10.  

Katie Jaseckas has a season-high 20 points coming against Missouri Western on December 19 and has been in double-figures in 10 of 17 games. She had the highest rebounding game in seven years with 18 against Drury on January 15. Jaseckas is third in overall field goal percentage in the conference at 57.9%, trailing Jessica Kelliher (66.8%) and Liza Tibbs (58.3%).

Remy Davenport has the most game experience of any Bulldog at over 106 games played. She has 218 made three-pointers, 214 assists, 109 steals and 54 blocked shots. She has eclipsed 900 career points and sits at 932 points. She would rank in the Truman top 10 for career in threes made (4th) and blocks (8th).

Truman Against The GLVC:
Truman is 50-32 in conference games since joining the league in 2013-14. The Bulldogs are 25-16 in Thursday conference games and 9-12 in conference road games.

Lady Panther Points:
Drury is ranked first or second in conference in 12 different stat catagories…they are first in scoring offense (77.9), steals and steals/game (271/13.6), offensive rebounds per game (13.0) and turnover margin and turnovers forced (+7.65/25.2)…they are third in Division II in turnovers forced and eighth in both turnover margin and steals per game…Alice Heinzler (14.6) leads three Lady Panther players in double-figure scoring…she is joined by Hailey Diestelkamp (12.9) and Heather Harman (12.4)…Heinzler averages 15.2 in conference games while shooting nearly 40% from three, she has 52 three-pointers for the season and makes 90% of her free throws…Drury has been to the free throw line nearly 90 more times than their opponent and have sunk almost as many free throws (302) as allowed free throws by an opponent (329).

???????Rockhurst Rousings:
The Hawks have lost four of their last five and nine of their last seven…Saturday will be their fifth straight road contest…their last home game was January 13 against Truman…their last two wins, a 59-56 win at William Jewell on Jan. 11 and an 80-75 victory at Wisconsin Parkside on Jan. 20…the Hawks average 64.2 points offensively and 65.6 defensively…they shoot 39% overall and 32% from three with 5.7 three-pointers made per game…Madeline Ronshausen scores at a 15.7 points per game clip and 15.6 in conference…she has a team high 49 three-pointers on 149 attempts, which is tied for the conference high with UW-Parkside's Ali Bettencourt…Jillian Myers averages 12.5 points per game and leads the team with 81 assists (4.3/game).

???????GLVC Ratings System
The conference unveiled its points rating system to determine the top eight teams for the league postseason tournament. The system is designed to award points based on opponents winning percentages throughout the year. The most points a team can earn would be seven points for a road win against an opponent with a .750 or above winning percentage while a team could not get any points for a home loss to an opponent with an under .250 winning percentage.

Currently, Truman's rating dropped from 3.39 to 3.20 after Thursday's loss at Maryville. The Bulldogs are ranked seventh. Drury and Southern Indiana are tied for first with a 4.60 rating while Rockhurst is 10th at 2.73.  

Up Next
The final two road games of the season will be next week for Truman. The Bulldogs head west to Liberty and William Jewell on Thursday night and east to Quincy on Saturday afternoon.
