RECAP: Late Goal Gives Truman Ninth Win Of Season

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Faith Branson punched home her fourth goal of the season on a crossing pass from Chance Douglass in Truman's 1-0 win on Friday over Drury University. The Bulldogs return to Kirksville to host Missouri S&T on Sunday at noon.

Paige Peterson gained control of a loose about around midfield then sprung Douglass down the right side with a lead pass. Douglass dribbled it all the way to inside the 6-yd box forcing keeper Sarah Franks to commit to a shot, then rolled the ball left. Branson pounded into the back of the net, beating a sliding defender in the process for the goal at the 76:34 mark. It was Branson's team-leading fourth goal of the year and second assist for Douglass.

The Bulldogs had another golden chance a few minutes later when two Truman players broke free past the defense, however the shot drifted just wide of the net after Franks was left on an island to defend.

Drury pressed late and had two corner kicks in the final three minutes. Gabbe Millot peppered a shot that Beth Hopwood had to get a hand on and push out of bounds with under a minute to play.

Truman doubled up the Lady Panthers in shots 18-9 and led in shots on goal 7-3.

The win was the third straight for the Bulldogs and improved their record to 9-2 and 5-2 in the GLVC. Drury falls to 0-10-1 and 0-7 in the league.
