RECAP: Bulldogs Take Advantage Of Frosty Shooting By UW-Parkside

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Wisconsin-Parkside's final trip to Pershing Arena under the Great Lakes Valley Conference flag will be a forgettable one. The Rangers shot a woeful 12% for the game and had scoring droughts of over eight and 11 minutes as the Truman Women cruised to a 71-40 win on Thursday night.
 
Sloane Totta made all four of her field goal attempts and was one off her career-high with 15 points to lead the Bulldogs. Rachel Edmundson scored 10. Four Bulldog starters made 14 field goals while the entire UW-Parkside slate hit 13.
 
Truman scored the first six points but the Rangers, following a timeout, struck back with a pair of triples to knot the game.
 
It would be eight-all with just under five minutes to play in the first quarter when the cold front moved in. UW-Parkside missed their next 15 shots spanning eight minutes and 51 seconds while Truman scored 19 in-a-row.
 
It was a 32-4 run following another 11-minute dry spell for UW-Parkside that carried over into the second half. The Rangers missed 14 straight field goal attempts including the first seven out of the third quarter gate.
 
All 16 eligible players for Truman saw action with 13 entering the scoring column.
 
Truman outscored UW-Parkside 38-8 in the paint and shot 50% for the game.
 
Ali Bettencourt was the leading scorer for UW-Parkside with 11 points.
 
The win sets up a big game on Saturday with Bellarmine at home. The Knights are 15-10 overall and 10-6 in the conference after downing Rockhurst  68-53 on Thursday in Kansas City. Bellarmine is fifth in the GLVC Points Rating System while Truman is seventh. Tip off for Military Appreciation Day will be at 1:00 p.m.
