Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern swept both ends of a doubleheader on a soggy Saturday in Joplin. The Lions won the opener 7-4 and held on to win the nightcap 10-7.

Josh Abegg collected a double and a triple but Missouri Southern rallied after falling behind 3-0 to down the Bulldogs 7-4 in the opener.

Abegg tripled and scored in the first while Ethan Kleinheider had an RBI single and Charlie Kreh scored on a passed ball in the three-run first.

The Lions scored single runs in the bottom of the first and second innings.

Abegg doubled and scored on Kreh's RBI single in the third to put Truman up 4-2, however a pair of miscues in the Southern half of the inning led to two runs and a tied game.

The Lions scored another run in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Kent Frantz took the loss to even his record at 1-1 and Corbin Osburn went the distance for the Lions in picking up the win. Osbourn fanned 10 Bulldogs in the seven-inning game.

Southern jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the 'Dogs in game two but Truman cut into the deficit in the sixth on a two-run homer by Evan Kayser.

The Lions tacked on four in their half of the sixth to go up 10-2.

The Bulldogs tried a late rally, in fact had the tying run at the plate in the ninth. The Bulldogs loaded the bases and pushed across three runs before Kory Carter struck out to end the game.

Will Bausinger struck out 12 Bulldogs and picked up the win after seven innings of work. Bryan Clark was the losing pitcher for Truman.

The teams return to the field tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
