KIRKSVILLE, Mo.– The calendar turns to May and the final weekend series for Truman Baseball is on tap at home when they host Missouri S&T on Friday and Saturday.

S&T is battling for the final spot in the GLVC Postseason Tournament as they are tied with William Jewell with an 11-13 conference record. Jewell is in St. Louis taking on Maryville.

The Bulldogs had their postseason hopes dashed in Kansas City over the weekend when Rockhurst took three of four from Truman. Matt Wade picked up his first collegiate complete game on Sunday in Truman's 4-1 win. Wade hurled seven innings and struck out six.

The offense had a hard time getting on track with a team batting average of .184 for the series. Three players had 14 of the 21 hits over the four games. Charlie Kreh led the way with six and hit .400 for the series while Ethan Kleinheider and Mason King each had four.

The Bulldogs will honor their six seniors on Saturday. Among the six are two career record holders, closer Peter Young and starter Kent Frantz. Young was named one of Truman's Outstanding Senior Student Athletes and is the career all-time saves leader at Truman. Frantz will leave the Bulldogs with the most pitching wins and will be looking for number 20 against S&T.

Last year against the Miners, Truman took the first two games of the series, 11-2 and 2-0 before dropping the second day doubleheader by scores of 8-0 and 4-3. Since the two teams started playing GLVC games against each other, they have split the 16 conference games against each other. Overall, the Miners hold a four-game lead in the all-time series 42-38.
Format:
Conference series are four games with the first game of the series being a nine-inning game. Games two and three are seven inning games and the fourth game is also a nine-inning affair. The first game of the series serves as a tiebreaker if teams are tied in the conference standings at the end of the season.

Truman In GLVC:
The Bulldogs have played 38 GLVC series since joining the league in 2014. They have swept all four games once (vs. Southern Indiana in 2015), won three games six times, split the series 18 times, won just once 10 times and lost all four games three times (last vs. Drury 2018).
Truman's longest GLVC winning streak is five games in 2014 and longest GLVC losing streak is six games twice, in 2017 and this season.

Truman individual player stats against Missouri S&T

Josh Abegg is 0-for-3 with one start and two games played in 2016. He had one run scored.
Blake Bagenstos pitched one inning in game three last year and had a walk, hit and strikeout among his five hitters faced.
Tyler Blackington tossed two innings and struck out three in an 11-2 Truman win in game one.
Bryan Clark took the loss in game three after lasting three plus innings in an 8-0 defeat. Five of the eight runs scored were earned.
Tanner Forck threw two innings in relief in game three of the series and walked three of the eight batters faced.
Kent Frantz is 1-1 in four appearances in two starts. Both his decisions were complete games in 2015 and 2016. He has allowed 16 hits in 15.2 innings pitched with a 2.30 ERA.
Evan Kayser started three of four last year and had a couple of hits and an RBI.
Mason King has started all eight games against S&T and is hitting .280 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs. He was 5-of-13 (.385) in last year's series.
Charlie Kreh has started all six games he has played against the Miners. Kreh is hitting .261 with three of his six hits being doubles against S&T pitching.
Jon Lyons was 4-for-6 last year with a home run and three RBIs.
Rian Markes was part of the combine shutout in game two last year. He threw just over four innings to get the win in the seven-inning game and allowed only four hits and struck out three.
Matt Tometz has thrown 4.1 innings in three appearances against S&T. He has five strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. He faced 12 batters and picked up his second win of the season in an 8-7 victory against S&T in 2015.
Brendan Trimble is batting .345 in eight starts against S&T. Trimble has 10 singles in his 29 at bats with one run scored and three RBIs.
Peter Young has two saves in five appearances. He has thrown seven innings and faced 25 S&T hitters and has a 0.00 ERA.

Scouting Missouri S&T:
The Miners are one of four GLVC teams hitting above .300 for the season with a .301 average in 45 games played. The others are Illinois Springfield (.329), Southern Indiana (.316) and Bellarmine (.306). Matt Gruse (.355), Connor Forsythe (.354), Drew Aldana (.353), Tim Lira (.352) and Cameron Burk (.349) are the team leaders in hitting with Gruse and Forsythe leading with three home runs. Lucas Swindle (.317) is on top in RBIs with 30.

The pitching staff has a 5.44 ERA with an opponent batting average of .288. Dan Borek is 5-5 and leads the team in innings pitched with 65. He has issued nine walks and struck out 36 with a 3.46 ERA. Connor Forsythe is 2-1 on the bump with four saves and a 2.61 ERA.

The Miners took three of four at home against Missouri-St. Louis last weekend. They won 5-4 in the opener but lost 4-2 in game two. In game three, they doubled up the Tritons 8-4 and took the series in game four with a 10-7 win. They lost a non-conference game on Tuesday to Lindenwood 11-2.

Kreh On A Terror:
Charlie Kreh is third in the GLVC in hitting with a .383 average. He is fifth in total hits with 62 on the season and entered Truman's single-season hits list and is tied in the eighth spot entering the final weekend.

On the last day of March, Kreh entered the day hitting .323 with 14 RBIs, since, Kreh has reached base in 19-straight games, had the second longest hitting streak since 2004 at 17-games and is hitting .470 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 27 RBIs. He has a .758 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage in 18 games played.

The Starting Rota:
Bryan Clark, Kent Frantz and Rian Markes all have 11 starts.

Frantz, in his six GLVC starts, is 4-2 with two complete games and a 2.93 ERA. He has allowed 15 runs in 43 innings of work. Frantz is first in career wins with 19 at Truman, third in career starts with 39, second in innings pitched at 266.1 and second in strikeouts with 165. He is one inning away from the career innings mark of 267.1 held by Mark Roberts and nine strikeouts away from Brant Kraner's career mark of 174.

???????Markes has tossed 55 innings and is 2-5 and Clark has thrown 52 innings and is 2-8.

Blake Bagenstos (6), Matthew Wade (4) and Josh Woodmansee (1) have made the starts in the other games this year. Bagenstos is 1-3, Wade started the past four weekends and is second on the team in appearances with 16 and Woodmansee is 0-1 in 10 appearances.

Shutting Things Down:
Closer Peter Young has four saves this season and 25 for his Bulldog career. Young was a first-team all-GLVC pitcher in 2017 and is the only Bulldog pitcher with more than 10 career saves.
Matt Tometz has the most relief appearances for the Bulldogs at 18 and is 0-4 with a 4.02 ERA. Tometz has seven pickoffs this season and one save in 31.1 innings this year.

Countdown to 200:
Head Coach Dan Davis needs four wins to hit the 200-win plateau. He will be only the second Truman Baseball Coach to win 200 games joining all-time leader in wins Sam Nugent (238).

Single Season Notables:

The TEAMs 23 home runs are tied for ninth in a single season at Truman, but eight back of last year's 31.
The TEAMs 160 walks taken is two back of cracking the top 10 in a season.
The TEAMs 336 strikeouts are third most in a season, the next highest was 359 in 2015.
The pitching staff's 240 strikeouts is fifth best in a season, 273 in 2011 in the school record.
Charlie Kreh's .383 batting average is just outside the top 10 for a single season with a minimum of 50 at bats. It is the third highest of anyone with over 100 at bats.
Kreh's 62 hits is tied for eighth with Nick Agliolo. 81 is the school record by Paul Trenhaile and 68 was the high by Jason Priest last season.
Kreh's 13 doubles is tied for fourth in a season, he has the school record with 19 along with Mike Kubinski (1999) that he hit last season.
Evan Kayser's eight home runs is tied for 10^thin a season. The record is 14 by Tony Vandemore in 1999. Jason Priest had nine last year.
Kayser has fanned 42 times, fifth most in a season but well back of the 56 set by Josh Rubin in 2004.
Kreh's 41 RBIs is seventh in a season. He is nine back of the record held by Vandemore in 1999 and six back of Priest's 47 last year.
Kreh's 90 total bases is eighth in a season, Vandemore had 113 in 1999 and Priest had 112 last year.
Kreh's 329 putouts is ninth in a single season.
Mason King has drawn 29 walks, two off the record held by Nick Agliolo (2016) and Zak Larkin (2014). King drew 30 walks in 2016.
Kent Frantz's five wins on the mound is tied for seventh, he won nine games along with Cody Gardner in 2015.
Matt Tometz's 18 pitching appearances is tied for seventh most. The record is 25 held by Greg Mundy in 2005.

Senior Sendoffs:
Six Bulldogs will be playing their final games in the Bulldog uniform this weekend.

Josh Abegg has played in 78 games over three seasons and has hit .252 with 51 hits and 10 doubles. He has stolen 16 bases and driven in 12 runs. He has had three, three-hit games with the last coming against Trevecca Nazarene earlier this season. He will be a three-time member of the Academic All-GLVC team.

Kent Frantz is the all-time leader in pitching wins with 19 and will be the leader in innings pitched following his start this weekend. Frantz has made 39 starts and 14 relief appearances over four years and has a career 4.66 ERA. He will challenge the
school strikeout record with 165, nine short of the record of 174 entering the weekend. Frantz was the GLVC Freshman of the Year and first-team all-conference pitcher in 2015 when, along with Cody Gardner, set new single season records with nine wins. He was the first Truman pitcher to earn first team all-conference since Al Nipper in 1979. He will face over 1200 batters in a Bulldog uniform and has 13 complete games.

Jon Lyons is a junior athletically but a senior academically and will graduate this spring. Lyons has started 36 games and played in 75 for the course of three years. He has a pair of home runs and three doubles among his 23 hits in 113 at bats. He had three hits in a game against Missouri-St. Louis this season and three last year in a game against Missouri S&T. Jon will be a four-time member of the GLVC All-Academic team.

Matt Tometz is in the top 10 in career pitching appearances with 53 entering the weekend. He is 4-7 with a 3.95 ERA. He has 49 career strikeouts in 79.2 innings pitched. Tometz has picked off 13 base runners the past three years with seven coming this season. He was the president of Truman's Student Athlete Advisory Committee and will be a four-time member of the GLVC All-Academic team.

Brendan Trimble is in the Truman career top 10 in games played with 182 entering the weekend. He was a second-team all-GLVC player as a freshman and has a career batting average of .303. His 191 hits are tied for fifth all-time and he is also in the Truman top 10 for a career in doubles with 33, runs scored with 109 and at bats with 630. Trimble will be a four-time member of the GLVC All-Academic team.

Peter Young will leave the Bulldogs as the all-time leader in saves with 25 and pitching appearances with 67 entering the weekend. Young is 7-3 with 25 saves and his 1.73 career ERA ranks third among Bulldog pitchers with at least 25 innings thrown. The two ahead of him in the career ERA are both Bulldog major league pitchers. He was the winning pitcher in Truman's first and only NCAA regional championship game against Ashland in 2015 and had a save during that regional tournament. He had eight saves, a single-season record in 2016. Young was named one of Truman's Outstanding Senior Student Athletes and was a first-team All-GLVC performer as a junior. He will be a four-time member of the GLVC All-Academic team.
