KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - For the first time in 12 years, the Truman State University men's soccer team is unbeaten after its first five matches of the season. Sunday, the Bulldogs played to their second tie of the week, this time with Southern Indiana, and are 2-0-3 (0-0-2 GLVC) heading into the second week of league play.
In the team head-to-head, both squads finished with 12 shots while Southern Indiana held the upper hand in shots on goal (3-2) and corner kicks (5-4). The Bulldogs 12 attempts at the net came from nine different players and were led by
Trevor Kaufmann's three looks. Kaufmann had one of the team's two shots on target and the other came from
Ian McCluskey.
Jacob Gunn and
Roy Hart combined for a shutout on Sept. 9 at Southwest Baptist (6-0), but Sunday marked Gunn's first complete-game shutout. Against the Screaming Eagles, the sophomore saved all three shots that he faced.
