RECAP: Bulldogs End Homestand With Exclamation Point Victory Over McKendree

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Bulldogs capped off their four-game homestand with a resounding 76-56 victory over McKendree University on Saturday afternoon.
 
A total of 12 players scored for the Bulldogs (17-3; 8-2 GLVC) with the bench scoring 47 points on the afternoon.
 
McKendree (10-8; 4-5 GLVC)  led 8-5 early on but a 12-0 run by the Bulldogs gave them a 22-16 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
 
The lead extended out to double figures in the second with Truman knocking down six of their first 12 three-point attempts. They closed the half on a 7-1 run and had 19 points from non-starters Maddie Re and Tiffany Davenport. Truman headed to the locker room up 41-29.
 
Allison Thomas got into the act in the third quarter and scored seven points, including a personal 5-0 run as McKendree went scoreless for over four minutes and Truman pushed the margin out to 57-38 at the close of the quarter.
 
Thomas ended up as Truman's leading scorer with 12 points. She went 4-of-4 from the field and made four of five from the charity stripe. Re recorded her fifth double-double of the year with 10 point and 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs shot 50% from the field, making nine triples and won the glass 34-25.
 
McKendree also had a dozen players score but none in double-figures. Megan Jensen and Sydney Diekhoff had nine points apiece. The Bearcats were 39% from the floor with two threes and 18-of-27 at the foul line.
 
The Bulldogs will play their next two on the road making a trip to Missouri S&T on Thursday night and heading to #2 and conference leader Drury on Saturday.
