RECAP: Bulldogs Fall to Miners

ROLLA, Mo.—The Truman Volleyball team took the court Saturday looking for their first winning streak since beating Charleston and Trevecca Nazarene on September 21st. But after hitting over .200 last night the attack faltered against the Miners, who took the set 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19).

Jocelynn Livingston led the team with 13 kills, she and Ellie Kaat combined for 25 of the team's 38 in the match. The team had 77 digs, highest since Cedarville on September 20th. Also, the seven blocks are the most since facing Georgia College on September 20th.

The first set was dominated by the Miners. The hosts jumped out to a 6-0 lead and would keep Truman at bay whenever the Bulldogs tried to make a run to get back in the set and eventually would win the set 25-15.

The second set was tight to begin, but Truman would eventually take an 8-5 lead behind kills from Kaat and Livingston and Kaat as well as a service ace from Ainsley Heise. The Miners fought back to tie the set at 10, and from there they went on an 11-4 run to take a seven point lead and win the set 25-15.

Truman came out hot in the third set, taking an early 6-2 lead. Lauren Wacker picked up an ace in the run. But the hosts would rally and eventually take a three point lead at 14-11. But an 8-1 run by Truman would give the Bulldogs the lead at 19-15 and Truman would not relinquish the lead as they won the set 25-19.

The Bulldogs also started the fourth set quickly as they jumped out to a 7-3 lead, forcing a timeout by the Miners. The lead swelled to 9-3 for the Bulldogs, but the Miners would rally to tie the set at 10. After taking a 12-11 lead, the Miners would not trail the rest of the set and won 25-19 to take the match 3-1.

Next weekend the team will head to Indianapolis for the GLVC crossover tournament on the 18th and 19th.
