KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team will begin their home season on Saturday morning with a non-conference game against Augustana (S.D.). Tip time is slated for 11 a.m.

The Bulldogs enter with a 2-0 record after sweeping both games at the GLVC/GMAC/GLIAC conference challenge last weekend in Quincy, Illinois. Truman knocked off UW-Parkside 82-71 and Ursuline (Ohio) 87-75 and are now 6-2 in these opening conference challenge weekends since they started in 2015.

Sophomore Katey Klucking earned GLVC Player of the Week honors after averaging 21.5 points in the two win. She was the first player since Cassidy Clark in 2017 to score 20 points or more in consecutive games. Clark was also the last Bulldog to earn the GLVC weekly award for that accomplishment. Klucking had eight of the team's 11 three-pointers of the course of the weekend and shot 53% from beyond the arc and dished out six assists.

The team in general shot 51% from the floor and won the rebounding statistic by 13 and 20 boards respectively.

Senior Sloane Totta had 15 assists and led the team in minutes at 31 per game. Junior Katie Jaseckas was second on the team in scoring at 15.5 per game and made 66% of her field goal attempts. Makenzie Bray was third at 13 points per game and redshirt sophomore Maddie Re led the rebounding charge with 20 (10/game).

Truman was 9-2 in home games last year and won both non-conference games played in Pershing Arena. Since 2013, Truman is 17-5 in non-conference home games and 27-18 in non-conference games against Division II opponents.

This will be the fourth meeting all-time between Truman and Augustana with the Vikings holding a 3-0 advantage in the series. The teams last met in 2017 in Sioux Falls with the home team prevailing 72-57. Katie Jaseckas notched her first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Truman struggled from distance hitting only five of 27 shots from three and shot 35% for the game. Shelby Selland led the Vikings with 17 points and 12 boards and the team had nine blocked shots.

Augustana raced out to an 8-0 lead that expanded quickly to 20-9 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs got as close as eight early in the third but then scored four more points in the quarter to fall behind.

This will be the Vikings season opener. They played Minnesota Morris in an exhibition game on November 4 with a final score of 91-56. Vishe' Rabb was the leading scorer with 18 points in 14 minutes of action while Lauren Sees added 13 in 21 minutes of play.

Augustana was 22-11 last season but 6-5 away from Sioux Falls. They enter with five straight 20-win seasons including a 29-4 record in 2017-18, which ended in the NCAA regional final to eventual national champion Central Missouri. The Vikings were picked fourth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason poll, including the reigning NSIC Freshman of the Year in Rabb.
