RECAP: Softball Swept by Central Missouri on the Road

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Truman State University softball team's nine-game winning streak was halted on Tuesday afternoon as the Bulldogs hit the road for the first time in over two weeks and were swept by former MIAA foe, Central Missouri, with scores of 3-2 (10 innings) and 9-1 (five innings).

Following its final non-conference games of the regular season, Truman's overall record fell to 25-12, while Central Missouri has won three in a row to improve to 26-16.

In game one, Truman's first 10-inning game since 2017, both teams scored a run in the third inning before one more apiece in the sixth, which led to extra innings. Truman's two runs came from an Emma Walbert RBI single that scored Christa Reisinger and Reisinger also came in on Brooke VunCannon's squeeze bunt three innings later. Central Missouri won it in the bottom of the 10th with a one-out infield RBI single by Makenzie McAtee.

In the circle, Alyssa Hajduk (12-4), who'd never pitched more than eight innings in a single game in her career, threw the first nine and a third frames with 155 pitches before giving way to Lauren Dale. Hajduk's streak of giving up two earned runs or less was snapped at 11 appearances as she surrendered three earned on 10 hits with three walks and four strikeouts. In relief, Dale gave up the game-winning hit to the first batter she faced.

In the nightcap, the Jennies scored four runs in the first inning, one in the third, three in the fourth, and their final run in the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs one run came on Alyssa Rivera's second home run of the season. Pitching wise, Dale (12-7) gave up six earned runs and Rachael Kernich surrendered the final three.

Next up, Truman is at Missouri S&T on Friday with game one's first pitch set for 12 p.m. in Rolla.
