RECAP: Maryville Holds Serve To Complete Sweep Over Truman Baseball

Box Score

ST. LOUIS – The Truman Baseball team was defeated 5-0 in the series finale against Maryville on Sunday afternoon.

Truman had runners at second and third with one out in the first when Mason King drew a walk and Holden Missey followed one batter later with a free pass. King swiped second and both runners moved up 90 feet with a double steal. However a groundout and a strikeout ended the threat.

Maryville got an unearned run in the second to take the lead and scored four unearned runs in the third, three coming on a three-run homer to account for all of the game's scoring.

Just nine hits between the two teams in get-a-way day with the Bulldogs stuck on a pair. Adam Stolley had a two-out single in the third and Brian Edell singled in the eighth.

The Bulldogs will conclude the 2019 season next weekend in Chicago against Lewis University. The three-game series is scheduled to start on Saturday with a doubleheader.
