RECAP: Truman Baseball Grabs Nightcap To Split DH With Lewis Friday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Truman Baseball team played spoiler on Lewis University on Friday as they split their first two games in the GLVC regular season finale. The Flyers won the first game 5-2 before Truman won the nightcap 5-3. Lewis is in a fight for one of the eight spots for the upcoming GLVC postseason tournament next week.
 
The Flyers are tied for eighth with Indianapolis with each having 18-14 league records.
 
Game 1 Recap:
Lewis jumped on top 2-0 after one and led 5-0 after four. The Bulldogs clawed back with a pair of runs in the seventh. Kory Carter singled with one-out and scored on Mason Kings' single to right. Ethan Kleinheider scored the second run following an error.
King went 3-for-5 in the opener.
 
Game 2 Recap:
It was the Bulldogs turn to strike first. Adam Stolley singled and scored on an error as Evan Kayser reached base. Carter tripled with one-out in the second and scored on an RBI single by Jack Goodwin to lead 2-0.
 
The Flyers got one back in the third and tied the game in the fourth. They would go up 3-2 in the sixth on a sac fly. 
 
Kleinheider led off the seventh with a single down the right field line and would later score to tie things up. King scored after being hit by a pitch on an RBI single from Holden Missey and Kayser got an insurance RBI picking up a single to center.
 
Caleb Buehrle came in for Mason Hatch in the eighth and put down all six batters he faced for his second save of the season.
