RECAP: Smestad Finishes Off Collegiate Throwing Career At North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Cassidy Smestad wrapped up her illustrious throwing career for the Truman Bulldogs by competing in three events at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College the past two days.

On Thursday, Smestad was in both the discus and hammer throw events. She had fouls on her first two discus attempts but was able to get a mark in her final throw of 125-4 to finish 10^th. Her first hammer throw was a foul but next two counted with the second throw going 131-4 but was 23^rd on the results lists.

Friday, Smestad finished fourth in the shot put. Her third attempt was her best at 44-10.25 and her three throws in the final group was in the 42-foot range.

Smestad was a national qualifier for the Bulldogs in the shot put and competed in the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor meet as a freshman. That season she was the GLVC Outdoor champion in the shot put and was all-conference GLVC with a second place finish in 2017 at the indoor meet.
