Kirksvile, Mo. – Truman State University senior thrower Destiny Zimdars has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The Lebanon, Missouri native earned the recognition after her dominant performance at the Central Dutch Holiday Preview on December 12.
Zimdars captured first place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.31 meters (53 feet, 6 inches) at the H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse in Pella, Iowa. Her winning mark ranks third in the GLVC and led a strong Bulldog showing in the event, as Truman claimed the top six places in the competition.
The psychology and sociology double major is earning her second career Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Award, previously receiving the honor on December 18, 2024. Zimdars was also the most recent Bulldog to earn the distinction prior to this week's announcement.
Zimdars and the Bulldogs will continue their indoor season after the holiday break as they prepare for conference competition in the new year.
