Box Score

LIBERTY, Mo. – In a flair for the dramatic, Anna Meyer tallied her second goal in consecutive games and the Truman Women's Soccer team upended William Jewell 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Meyer scored in the 90thminute with about 42 seconds left in regulation to break a 2-2 tie with the Cardinals to move the Bulldogs to 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and 2-2-1 overall. She scored her first collegiate goal on Friday night in the Bulldogs 2-1 loss at Rockhurst.

The Cardinals grabbed the lead 1-0 with under five minutes left in the first half when Olivia Chalabi scored off a rebound.

After the intermission, Isabel Kurzban struck gold with her first goal of the year to knot things up. Kurzban's goal came from 20-yards out. The Bulldogs were then awarded a penalty in the 52ndminute and Hanna Burke buried it for her first score of the season to give Truman the lead.

The Cardinals would answer back six minutes later when Lexy Hawkins scored off a free kick near midfield.

The shot totals picked up in the second 45 with a total of 29 shots in the half, 17 for Jewell and 12 for the Bulldogs. Six of the 17 were on goal for the Cardinals while Truman put nine of their 12 toward the keeper.

Beth Hopwood and Kaylie Kappelmann each made nine saves in the game.

Truman will split next weekend with a road date at the University of Indianapolis on Friday before returning home to face Bellarmine University on Sunday.
