BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – After playing a program high seven overtime games last season, it was only fitting that the 2019 campaign began with a draw. The Truman Women's Soccer team played #12-ranked Ferris State (Mich.) to a scoreless tie in the season opener on Friday afternoon in Big Rapids. The Bulldogs will head to Grand Rapids for a Sunday morning match with Davenport University.
Beth Hopwood made 14 saves including seven in the extra time played to preserve her 10
th career shutout in just over a year's worth of action. With the blanking of Ferris, Hopwood now moves into the Truman top 10 in keeper shutouts.
The Bulldogs were outshot 22-9 and 14-4 on shots on goal during the match. Ferris totaled eight corner kicks to Truman's none. The Truman shots on goal came from

Truman came into the match as the Great Lakes Valley Conference coaches choice to repeat as conference champion but were not nationally ranked while Ferris was picked second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference and coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
