ST. LOUIS—The Truman Swimming teams competed at the UMSL Tri-meet this Saturday as the women took home their second win of the season, downing the Tritons 124-87. The men fell short 147-64.
Annika Hofer took first in the 400 IM (4:37.61) and second in the 200 breast (Ginney Schranck took first).
Madison Nguyen also won the 1000 after a spectacular second half of the race to take first place by over seven seconds.
Lexi Krogman stood out in the 200 fly (2:12.82) while
Sarah Nelson and
Lexi Poe took 1-2 in the 50 free and
Allison Garrett won the 100 free (53.67). The 400 medley relay team of
Natalie Nguyen, Schranck, Nelson and Poe took first.
Brooke Beahan also took first in the 200 free at 1:56.23, coming in just .16 ahead of second place. She also had the best time in the 200 back at 2:09.18.
Madison Nguyen and
Maddie Wilson took first and second in the 500 free at 5:08.68 and 5:09.43. The team took first and third place in the 400 free relay, with the team of Krogman,
Christina Jurotich,
Natalie Nguyen and
Natalie Willis taking first.
The men's team saw good performances in the 200 back from
Connor Neils (1:49.46),
Grant Lair (1:53.99) and
Mike Franz (2:01.01). The team of
Grant Lair,
Keegan Miller,
Jack McKenzie and
Shane Williams took first in the 400 medley relay. The Bulldogs also took first and third in the 400 free relay, as the team of
Noah May,
Alex Burkhardt,
Austin Bell and
Jackson Michals won.
Following the busy weekend, coach
Jerod Simek said, "over the past two days we were able to see some good things and some things that we need to continue working on from the past six weeks of training and will continue to see as we have about a month before our next competition."
The Bulldogs will be back in action at the GLVC open on November 20-21 at McKendree.
