Box Score (PDF)

ST. LOUIS – The Truman State Women improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 71-65 victory on the road at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Four Bulldogs scored in double-figures led by Katey Klucking with 17 points.

The two teams exchanged the lead three times in the first quarter but a 15-3 run sparked with three, three-pointers put the Bulldogs out to a 39-26 advantage midway through the second quarter. Truman would take a 46-36 lead into the locker room for half.

UMSL finally got the margin below 10 on an Alex LaPorta basket at the end of the third quarter.

The Tritons made a late charge in the fourth and cut the Truman lead down to four at 69-65 with 37 seconds to play but Hannah Belanger iced the victory with a pair of free throws.

Truman got nine three-pointers with all five starters knocking down at least one. Belanger finished with three triples and 13 points. Tiffany Davenport matched her career-high with 14 points with adding seven assists. Katie Jaseckas scored 16 with eight rebounds and Ellie Weltha scored seven with a high of 14 rebounds.

UMSL was led by Faye Meissner with 17 points on four treys.

The win matched a program-best five-game road winning streak dating back to last season. The team will continue the road swing to start the year with a 1 p.m. game against Lindenwood University next Saturday in St. Charles.
