RECAP: Truman Keeps It Rolling With 72-65 Win Over William Jewell

KIRKSVILLE, Mo- Senior guard Sloane Totta caught fire and goes for 23 points and moves to sixth on Truman's all-time list for assists with 328 as the Truman Women's Basketball team held off the William Jewell Cardinals 75-65. The Bulldogs move to 15-4 overall and 11-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Totta's surpassed Susan Theroff (327 career assists from 1989-1991) on Truman's all-time career assist list moving her to sixth with 328 career assists through this point in the season. She also scored a game-high 23 points on six three-pointers and now sits at 987 career points.

Truman jumped out to an early lead going on a 19-8 run to start the game. Totta knocked down three consecutive three-pointers for a quick nine points. During this run, the Bulldogs shot 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range. 

William Jewell would respond in the second quarter with an 8-2 run of their own cutting the lead to three. Truman would attempt to extend their lead going into halftime. However, William Jewell would go on another 8-3 run to eventually tie the game at 32  apiece at the break. 

The Bulldogs found some life and went on a 15-2 run to open the third quarter to extend their lead to 47-34. The Cardinals kept the game close staying within single digits, but Truman was able to hang on to secure their 15th win of the season.

Totta add five rebounds and five assists with her fifth 20-point game of her career. Katie Jaseckas had 19 points and 10 rebounds recording her 11th career double-double. Katey Klucking scored five points in the win but matched a career-high in rebounds with 10 of them and set a career-high in assists with eight. Hannah Belanger added 12 points.

The Cardinals (8-12; 4-8 GLVC) were led by Lea Flinn with 14 points and Sydney Offield with 14 rebounds.

The Bulldogs will close out the four straight at home next weekend by welcoming GLVC-newcomer Lindenwood to Pershing Arena on Thursday night. The Lions handed the Bulldogs their first loss last year during non-conference action as Truman won 11 of their first 12 games. Following Thursday's 5:30 tip, Missouri-St. Louis will be the opponents on Saturday afternoon.
