RECAP: Bulldogs Drop Two in Double Header at Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla.—The Truman baseball team got back in action this weekend as they returned to the Sooner State for four games against Rogers State.  The Bulldogs dropped the first by a score of 6-0 and game two 4-2.

Game One

Will Fromm picked up the only hit of the game for the Bulldogs –a single in the second. Connor McKenna made the start and threw six innings, allowing just two earned runs. He picked up three strikeouts, giving him eight in his two starts this year as he took the loss to drop to 1-1 on the season. Jackson Simonsgaard went seven for the Hillcats and picked up his second win of the season.

Game Two

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start in game two. Brenden Kelly reached on a bunt single to open the game. After stealing second he advanced to third on a flyout by Reid Wilson. Holden Missey doubled into left to drive Kelly in. Steven Bradbury followed with a double to bring Missey in. Both Kelly and Adam Stolley stole bases in the game.

Rian Markes went five innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits with 98 pitches. He struck out six and walked four in the no-decision. When he left the game, it was tied at two each. Blake Bagenstos started the sixth for the Bulldogs and got two outs but allowed the final two runs of the game. Tucker Olson finished off the sixth inning and threw the final two innings for the Bulldogs.

Brett Karalius went seven and picked up the win for Rogers State.

The Bulldogs drop to 2-3 on the season, and will finish off this series with RSU when the two teams play a double header tomorrow starting at 12 p.m.
