KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Baseball team took the diamond at home Saturday for the first time this season and fell twice to Indianapolis—the first game 11-3 and the second 2-0. In game one Corey Bates (2-1) got the win for UNIDY while Connor McKenna (1-3) took the loss—allowing four runs; none earned. In the second game Reid Werner (4-0) got the win while Rian Markes (0-3) took the loss. Matt Rearick picked up his first save for the Greyhounds.
Game One
UINDY got the first 11 runs of the game, including seven over the last three innings. Truman finally got on the scoreboard in the ninth. Holden Missey led the inning with a single to third base, then moved to second on fielder's indifference. Brendan Larkin followed with a single up the middle, which brought Missey in. Evan Kayser doubled to the left side to move Larkin to third. Adam Stolley brought Larkin in on an RBI groundout which moved Kayser to third. Kayser would score on a balk, and the game would end 11-3.
Game Two
Despite taking the loss, Markes pitched another great start for the Bulldogs. He went seven innings, allowed just two runs (both earned) and struck out four batters. Tucker Olson pitched two innings in relief, allowing three hits and no runs.
Truman got six hits in the game, including two from Kory Carter. On the day Missey had three hits to lead the team and a run scored.
The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow at noon.
