NOTES: Showdown With UMSL For Truman Women Tuesday

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Two teams riding three-game winning streaks will clash on Tuesday afternoon when the Truman Bulldogs host the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons at 4 p.m. It will be the second meeting between the Central division rivals after Truman took a 71-65 victory back on December 5th in St. Louis.
 
This will be the fifth straight home game for the Bulldogs. They opened the homestand with a 83-78 loss to Southern Indiana but have reeled off three straight wins over William Jewell (77-63), Missouri S&T (83-71) and most recently Maryville (83-72). 
 
Truman has taken advantage of the home court by shooting 54% overall from the floor in their last three games with 47% from outside and 81% at the free throw line. The Bulldogs have moved to second in Division II in overall field goal shooting at 50.6% as a team and for perspective, the Truman season record is 45.4% set during the 1998-99 season. 
 
Ellie Weltha is second in the conference in shooting at 64% while third in rebounding at 10.1 per game with 20 offensive rebounds. 
 
Katie Jaseckas has recorded three straight double-doubles and is shooting 70% with nine three-pointers and seven blocks in those games. She has had games of 18/12, 17/10 and 18/11 in Truman wins over Jewell, Missouri S&T and Maryville and is fourth in the nation in blocks with 23. For the season, Jaseckas averages 16.7 points per game and her 47% from three is third among GLVC three-point shooters.
 
Hannah Belanger is the team's scoring leader at 19 points per game, good for fourth in the GLVC. Belanger averages 3.44 triples per game, good for first in the conference and fourth across Division II. She scored over 20 points for the fourth game this season on Saturday with 26 points on five three-pointers. 
 
Tiffany Davenport is the conference leader and third in the country in assists this season with58 and fifth nationally in assists/per game at 6.4. Davenport, along with Belanger and Katey Klucking are each averaging over 34 minutes per game.
 
Klucking is second in threes with 20 and is third in scoring on the team with 11.6 per game. She is sixth in the conference in threes/per game at 2.22.
 
Allison Thomas and Maya Mouton have come off the bench in all nine games. Thomas has made 19-of-24 field goal attempts (79%) and Mouton has provided 15 minutes per game with 2.6 and 3.2 rebounds per game. 
 
The Bulldogs are among the league leaders as a team in scoring offense (3rd/76.2), defense field goal percentage (3rd/.394), rebounding margin (1st/+12.0), blocked shots (2nd/3.44), assists (1st/18.78), assist/turnover ratio (3rd/1/13), and threes/game (1st/9.67). 
 
Schedule Adjustments: The revolving schedule continues. As of press time, Thursday's game at home against Lindenwood has been postponed and Saturday's game at Drury has also been shelved. No make-up dates have been set for either game.  
 
Scouting Report: Missouri-St. Louis
The Tritons are third in the conference in shooting at 45% and Truman and UMSL are 1-2 in rebounding margin…the Tritons are +8.9 per game and led the league in offensive rebounds per game at 13.8…Alex LaPorta leads the team in scoring at 18.4 per game and 8.2 per game rebounds…Kiara Stewart is the top board grabber for UMSL at 9.4/night…Breanna Diestelkamp is shooting an eye-popping 72% from the field to lead the conference…in her last two games, Diestelkamp has scored 24 and 34 and she has raised her scoring average to 9.9/game…after their loss to Truman State on December 5, UMSL won their next three over Lindenwood, McKendree and William Jewell…following a two-point loss at Lewis, UMSL downed Indianapolis, Southwest Baptist and most recently Illinois Springfield (85-56).
 
Last Game w/Missouri-St. Louis: All five starters knocked down a three-pointer and four of the five were in double-figures as Truman bounced Missouri-St. Louis 71-65 back on December 5 at the Mark Twain Center in St. Louis. Katey Klucking led Truman with 17 points and Katie Jasekcas scored 16 in the victory. The Bulldogs led by 10 at the half but UMSL whittled the lead down to four with under a minute to play before late free throws by Hannah Belanger iced Truman's fourth straight win over the Tritons. Faye Meissner had four triples for UMSL and scored 17 points while Alex LaPorta added 14 with seven assists. 
 
Series History: As mentioned above, Truman has taken the last four decisions over the Tritons but all four have been decided by six points or less. The overall series has the Bulldogs holding a 23-19 advantage and a 14-7 margin in games played in Kirksville. The last Triton win was 67-58 in St. Louis in 2017 and last Triton win in Kirksville was 80-70 on December 19, 2016.
