INDIANAPOLIS - Truman defensive back Ben Thomas has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a two-interception performance in the Bulldogs 49-28 victory over Quincy on Saturday.
Thomas ended a Quincy scoring threat in the first quarter when he picked of Tionne Harris at the Bulldog goal line on a third and eight play with Truman up 14-0. His second pick came in the fourth quarter as was returned 35 yards.
Ryan Olivas had the other interception as the Truman defense six tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks.
It is the first award for Thomas and second defensive player of the week award for the Bulldogs this season.
