The Truman State Bulldogs football program has released its full schedule for the upcoming season, and fans will have plenty of reasons to make the trip out to Stokes Stadium in Kirksville. With six home games, a pair of nonconference road tests, and a loaded Great Lakes Valley Conference slate, the Bulldogs have built a schedule that will challenge them every week from late August through mid-November.
The season opens on Saturday, August 29 with a home game against Washburn University at 6:00 p.m. The evening kickoff coincides with Student and Community Appreciation Day, giving fans a festive start to the year. It is one of the more anticipated openers in recent memory, with the Bulldogs looking to avenge a narrow 20-17 defeat to the Ichabods last year in Topeka.
The Bulldogs then hit the road the following week, traveling to Kent County, Michigan to face Davenport University on September 5 at noon. This will be a rematch of the overtime thriller the Bulldogs won 28-27 at Stokes Stadium this past season. Back in Kirksville on September 12, Truman hosts Northeastern State University in the Hall of Fame Game.
GLVC play kicks off on September 19 with Family Day at Stokes Stadium against Missouri S&T at 1:30 p.m., followed a week later by a road trip to Indianapolis to face the Greyhounds. These two teams are very familiar with each other following the NCAA playoff game last year. After a bye week in early October, the Bulldogs travel to Fayette, Iowa to take on Upper Iowa University before heading to Quincy, Illinois to face the Hawks on October 17.
The back half of the conference schedule brings two consecutive home games. Homecoming falls on October 24 against Southwest Baptist University. Then, the Bulldogs celebrate Halloween with a noon kickoff against Lincoln University. The regular season nears its end with a road game at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, before returning to Stokes Stadium for Senior Day on November 14 against McKendree University.
All games will include live stats that can be found on trumanbulldogs.com, as well as live broadcasts on the GLVC Sports Network, with Brad Boyer and Hank Janssen on the call for the home games.
