Bochert Added to Truman State Football Staff as Running Backs Coach

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State Football Head Coach Kellen Nesbitt has announced the hiring of Tyson Bochert as the program's running backs coach.

"We are excited to welcome Tyson to the Bulldog family," Nesbitt said. "He is an extremely talented young coach, and I have no doubt he will make a tremendous impact on our running backs and our football program. I look forward to working with him."

Bochert joins the Bulldogs after serving on the coaching staff at the University of Northern Colorado, where he worked with the running backs and assisted with recruiting, player development, opponent scouting, and offensive operations.

At Northern Colorado, Bochert coached running backs in pass protection and run-game concepts while helping design and implement position drills and player development plans. He also contributed to offensive game preparation through film breakdown, scouting reports, data tracking, and practice organization. In addition to his on-field responsibilities, Bochert played a significant role in recruiting operations, serving as a primary liaison for prospective student-athletes and coordinating campus visits.

Bochert's background includes experience as both a collegiate student-athlete and coach. He competed at San Jose City College, McPherson College, and the University of Northern Colorado before transitioning into coaching. He earned his bachelor's degree in Economics in 2025.

"I'm incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of the Truman State Football program," Bochert said. "It's an honor to join a team with such a strong tradition, and I'm looking forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, representing the university, and becoming an active member of the Kirksville community."

Known for his detail-oriented approach and commitment to student-athlete development, Bochert brings experience in recruiting, player evaluation, football analytics, and position-specific instruction. His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, consistency, and helping student-athletes achieve success both on and off the field.

Bochert joins a Truman State program that continues to build momentum within the GLVC and will work closely with the Bulldog offense in the development of the team's running backs.
