RECAP: Truman Survives In Overtime Over Rockhurst

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women returned to the court after a long layoff and survived in overtime over Rockhurst 76-69 on Thursday night to improve to 13-4 on the season.
 
Rockhurst took their only lead since 8-7 when Lani Thompson hit her first three-pointer of the game with 16 seconds left to put the Hawks up 62-61. Ellie Weltha was fouled out of the timeout on an inbounds pass and made the first to tie the game but missed the second. 
 
Both teams had chances in regulation as Rockhurst fumbled away a pass toward the lane while Truman couldn't trigger off a final shot before the buzzer sounded after a final timeout.
 
In overtime, Daly Sullivan scored the first five for Rockhurst and they took a 67-64 lead.
 
Katey Klucking ran up a tough shot to pull Truman to within one and Weltha then scored six straight points to overtake Rockhurst. 
 
Weltha finished with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. 
 
Hannah Belanger had the hot hand early for Truman as they sunk five of six from beyond the arc in the first quarter and Belanger finished 6-of-9 from distance for game high honors of 25 points. Klucking added 14 and Tiffany Davenport finish with 10.
 
Sullivan paced Rockhurst with 17 points.
 
Truman will host Southwest Baptist on Saturday in the regular season finale at 1 p.m.
