RECAP: Maryville Scores Twice In Second Half To Down Truman 2-0

ST. LOUIS – Two set pieces led to two goals by Maryville University in a 2-0 victory over the Truman Women's Soccer team on Sunday afternoon. That evens the Bulldogs record to 1-1 on the season.
 
The teams played a scoreless first half with Truman registering two shots on goal and the Saints three.
 
Early in the second half, Alex Johnson headed in a corner kick from Rachel Martin past Beth Hopwood for the 1-0 lead. 
 
In the 57th minute, Maryville was awarded an indirect free kick at the top of the 18-yard box and after a touch by Johnson, Lexi Gentry hammered it low and to the right corner of the net for the insurance.
 
Truman was limited to only three shots for the game off the feet of Jenna Wallstab, Chance Douglass and Hanna Hickey.
 
The Bulldogs will next be in action on Friday at home against Lindenwood University with a start time of noon.
