Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri S&T Miners grabbed the first two Great Lakes Valley Conference games from the Truman Softball team on Friday afternoon by scores of 15-7 and 13-3. Truman is slated to play at Maryville University for another GLVC twin bill on Sunday.

Missouri S&T busted out 17 hits in the opener as the Miners took the first game of the doubleheader 15-7. The Miners took a 1-0 lead on a delayed steal in the second inning.  Things went south as S&T plated five runs in the third and eight in the fourth.

Truman tried to mount a comeback after Mackayla Gordon doubled in two runs in the fourth.

In the fifth, Truman loaded the bases and pushed across on run on a single to right center by McKenzie West then Lauren Bowman cleared the bases with a grand slam to center.

In game two, the Miners grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game two but Truman snatched the lead in their half of the third. Breianna Klein drew a bases loaded walk  and Lauren Stade followed with a two-run double off the fence in left field to plate Macy Taylor and Gordon.

The Miners would come right back with two more in their fourth to make it 4-3, then scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and a six-run seventh to put the game out of reach.

Stade was 3-for-4 for Truman.
