RECAP: Comeback Falls Short For Truman Women's Soccer

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - A three-goal blitz in the first half, including two in the final five minutes gave the University of Indianapolis a 3-2 victory over the Truman Women's Soccer team on Friday afternoon.

Truman scored twice in the second half, the first goal coming just over two minutes into the second 45 when Hanna Hickey volleyed in a free kick from Anna Meyer.

The second tally came via penalty with 52 seconds showing in regulation. Paige Peterson converted the PK to make it 3-2.

The Bulldogs hit one post in the second half and had seven of their nine shots in the period.

Maddy Theis crossed the ball and Elena Espinosa punched it over Beth Hopwood into the right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.

Following a foul, Dana Youssef served a ball toward the net and Sydney Anderson got a boot on it to push it into the goal for a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute.

The third goal again came from the deep left side after Kiki Sauceda won a battle in the corner, served the ball across to Elisabeth Kessler for the 3-0 win.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (2-5) at noon against Lewis University.
