Box Score (PDF)

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team punched their ticket to the GLVC Tournament championship game after a dominating 68-52 victory over William Jewell in the semifinals on Saturday.

The Bulldogs got 21 points from Hannah Belanger, 18 points, 11 rebounds from Katie Jaseckas and 16 points and 15 rebounds from Ellie Weltha.

The Cardinals led after the first quarter 14-13 but Truman outscored their opponent 15-6 in the second quarter to lead 28-20 at the break.

Jewell scored the first four points out of the locker room but a Belanger three followed by a hoop from Tiffany Davenport and Weltha pushed the lead out to 11 for the first time in the game. The lead swelled to as many as 20 late in the third quarter.

The Cardinals cut it down to 10 on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter but each time Truman got a big three-pointer to throw water on the fire. The first came from Jaseckas with 4:29 to play followed by Belanger on Truman's next possession.

Jaseckas threw the dagger with another triple to push the lead back out to 16 with just over two minutes left.

Davenport finished with nine assists and Truman had a season-low six turnovers.

Kiara Bradley led four Cardinals in double-figures with 16 points.

Truman moves on to their first championship game in the GLVC since winning the postseason tournament in 2014. The Bulldogs will face top-seeded Drury University at 1 p.m.

The two teams finished 1-2 in the league's point-rating system to end the season and had their regular season game called off twice due to COVID issues.
