RECAP: Truman Blanks Jewell 1-0 For Third Straight Shutout

LIBERTY, Mo. – An early second half goal by Hanna Hickey stood up as the lone tally and the Truman Women's Soccer team blanked their third consecutive opponent when they downed William Jewell 1-0 on Saturday.
 
After the Bulldogs intercepted a pass in their end, Faith Branson carried the ball down the right side of the field until she got even with the 6-yard box. She turned to her left and fed a pass to Hickey near the penalty spot. Hickey shook off her defender and placed the shot 12-yards out under the crossbar for her third goal of the season.
 
Once again, the Truman defense stifled an opponent as they allowed only four total shots with none reaching Beth Hopwood in front of the Truman net. Truman put 17 total shots with seven on goal during the match.
 
The Bulldogs have now won three straight and have leveled their record to 5-5 on the season. They have not allowed a goal in 316:23 seconds dating back to the first half of their March 19th contest against Indianapolis.  During that span, only two shots have been directed toward the Truman goal.
 
Truman will host Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist in their final home regular season weekend next Friday and Sunday.
