PITTSBURG, Kan.—Saturday the Bulldogs looked to take a win on the final match day of the Gorilla Classic Tournament, but the hot hitting Wranglers of Northwest Oklahoma State proved to be too much for Truman, who fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20).

In the first set, Truman reeled off a 3-0 run; starting with a kill from Allison Beaton. This brought the Bulldogs to within one at 7-6, but from there NWOSU answered and put Truman back at arms length at 10-6. The Wranglers would eventually expand their lead and took the set 25-13.

NWOSU jumped out to a quick lead in the second set, but Truman fought back with a 6-0 down 19-8 to give themselves home in the set. Maura Ploesser and Ellie Kaat picked up kills in the run. Truman would pull to within four at 21-17, but could not connect for another point the rest of the set and fell 25-17.

Truman got the first two points of the third set with kills from Kaat and Ploesser. NWOSU would pull back to tie it at four, but Truman went on a 6-0 run as Ploesser and Smith both picked up kills in the stretch. The Bulldogs led most of the set, but NWOSU scored six straight with Truman leading 16-14 to vault over the Bulldogs and NWOSU did not relinquish their lead the rest of the set. The Bulldogs hit 28% in this set, but it was not enough to overcome the Wranglers.

The Bulldogs begin GLVC play next week as they take on UIndy in Indiana's capital this coming Thursday at 4 p.m. central time.
