ST. CHARLES, Mo.—The Truman Volleyball team began a three game road swing Tuesday night in St. Charles as they took on the Lindenwood Lions in GLVC play. The Lions took the match 3-0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-14), marking the third straight match between these two teams that has been decided 3-0.
The Bulldogs fought back after getting down in the first set, pulling within two points at 13-11 after back to back kills from Ellie Kaat. Unfortunately Truman could not draw within any closer than two in the set as the Lions pulled away to win the set by six.
Lindenwood jumped out to a quick lead in the second set and won the set going away. But in the third set, Truman turned the tables early on. A kill from Emma Wollert and some errors by the Lions gave the Bulldogs a 4-2 lead to start with. Lindenwood would come back to take a 7-5 lead, but a kill from Kate Benzing and ace from Maura Ploesser would even the set back up. But from there Lindenwood would take the lead and not give it up for the rest of the set to finish the match.
Kaat led the team with six kills and tied for the team lead with two blocks, Katy Motz led with 12 assists and tied with Morgan Smith for the team lead with six digs.
The Bulldogs will take on Southern Indiana in Evansville on Friday at 7 pm.
