Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Blast Past Davenport 4-0

CALADONIA, Mich. – Faith Branson and Hanna Hickey each netted a pair of goals as the Truman Women's Soccer team routed Davenport 4-0 to complete their season opening weekend.

Branson assisted on the first goal by Hickey that gave Truman the 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. Hickey blasted the ball from 25-yards out that struck the back of the net for the lead.

On the restart, Cassidy Gann fed Branson near midfield and the Bulldog raced down the left side before slipping the ball off the far post into the goal just 12 seconds after the first tally.

In the second half, Camryn Sprague played a free kick into the Davenport area and after a small scrum, Emmie McConnell freed Branson behind the defense for the 3-0 lead in the 57th minute. It was Branson's third goal of the weekend.

Hickey ended the scoring with her second 25-yard blast off a free kick. Hickey snuck the ball under the crossbar in the 85th minute.

Truman outshot the Panthers 16-4 with a 10-3 advantage on shots on goal. Beth Hopwood and Tatumn Damron combine for the shutout. Hopwood made just one save in the first half and Damron stopped a pair of Davenport shots in the second.

Truman will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference action next Sunday at home when they host Drury University at 2:30 p.m.
