Men's Basketball Heads to Rolla, Hosts Drury

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Men's Basketball team will be back on the floor Thursday night as they travel to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T and then come home for a showdown with Drury Monday afternoon; welcoming back former coach Chris Foster, who now leads the Panthers. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play at Maryville Saturday, but that game has been canceled due to covid issues within the Maryville program.

The Bulldogs had won six straight before falling at McKendree Saturday in a nail biter. In December the Bulldogs went 4-0 against UMSL, Maryville, Central Christian and Grand View and then downed Lindenwood and Quincy in the first week of January before falling to the Bearcats.

Truman is now 10-3 on the season, and 4-1 in GLVC play. The Bulldogs remain the only team ranked in the NABC top 25 at number 21, with UMSL and Southwest Baptist also receiving votes this week.

Thursday's trip to Rolla will be the 151st meeting between the two programs, and Truman owns slightly better than a 2-1 edge at 101-49 all time. The Miners enter the game at 6-7 overall, and have exceeded their win total from a season ago. In GLVC play the Miners have begun 2-4, with wins over Drury and Rockhurst.

Coming home on Monday night the Bulldogs will take on Drury, who enters the week with a 4-7 overall record and 1-2 in GLVC play. Drury has taken 12 of the 21 meetings so far between these two teams. The Panthers last win coming into this week came on December 10th against Uni. of Health Sciences and Pharmacy-St. Louis.

The Bulldogs remain second in the GLVC in scoring offense at 81.5 points per game, and are also third in scoring margin at +10. It will be the first trip to Kirksville for the Panthers since 2018, which Drury won in overtime 98-96.
