ST. CHARLES, Mo. - After falling behind by 12 in the first half, the Truman Bulldogs flipped the switch on the Lindenwood Lions and powered their way for the 10th straight win, a 57-47 victory on Saturday afternoon on the road.
Hannah Belanger scored a game-high 25 points and Ellie Weltha notched a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs flipped the game by 27 points after trailing 26-14 with just under seven minutes to play in the second quarter.
Katey Klucking's three-pointer just before the break cut the Lions lead to 31-25.
Truman (13-5; 9-1 GLVC) then scored six straight to start the third to take their first lead of the game at 32-31.They would score the first 14 points of the fourth quarter to take their largest lead of 15 with 4:34 to play.
The second half was all Bulldogs as they doubled up the Lions 32-16. Truman in the final 20 minutes was 13-of-32 from the field and an efficient 3-of-4 from outside while holding Lindenwood (8-7; 5-3 GLVC) to six made field goals out of 29 attempts and only 2-of-13 from range.
Truman held GLVC leading scorer and rebounding Julia Ruzevich to only nine points, 11 shy of her season average and nine rebounds.
Six of the 10 victories have come on the road, including five of the last six with the home win coming against #1 Drury on Monday night. They ended Missouri-St. Louis's 10-game winning streak on Thursday and solved the Lindenwood puzzle after the Lions had dealt the Bulldogs four straight losses since Lindenwood joined the GLVC.
Truman returns home for a pair of games next week and it was start with another GLVC heavyweight in Southern Indiana on Thursday night. The Screaming Eagles come into the the contest with a 12-3 record and a 6-1 conference mark as leaders of the East Division. They were handed their first conference loss at home on Saturday by Lewis 72-63.
