QUINCY, Ill. - Hannah Belanger knocked down four three-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points and the Truman Women's Basketball team continued their mastery over the Quincy Lady Hawks with a 68-59 road win on Tuesday night.
Emma Bulman keyed a 7-0 run and broke a 25-all tie late in the second quarter with a steal and fast break hoop that gave the Bulldogs (6-5; 2-1 GLVC) the lead for good after the two teams exchanged the advantage six times in the first 17+ minutes of play. Belanger followed with a triple and Madison Niemeier added a bucket off an assist from Katey Klucking to put Truman up 32-27 at the break.
The third quarter continued Truman's hot shooting as the Bulldogs made 7-of-11 in the frame, including 2-of-3 from outside and all five free throws to outscore the Lady Hawks 21-13 and take a 53-40 lead into the fourth.
Truman would lead by as many as 17 points before whittled the margin down to nine with a late burst.Â
The Bulldogs picked up their eighth straight win over the Lady Hawks, the longest winning streak by either team in the all-time series.
Ellie Weltha added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.
Quincy (4-7; 0-3 GLVC) was led by Sarah Nelson with 15 points.
Truman is next scheduled to play at home on Thursday against Lewis (Ill.) University. Tip off is slated for 5:15 p.m.
