ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Truman State men finished second and the women third at the Minnesota State Mankato Maverick Invitational on Saturday in Rochester, Minnesota. AJ Kohler and Adelaide Reaser each won three events for the Bulldogs and were two of only three swimmers in the meet to accomplish that feat.
Kohler took gold in the three free events 100 (47.14), 200 (1:42.13) and 500 (4:48.44). Jacob Pocivasek won the 50 free (21.37) and was runner-up to Kohler in the 100 at 47.51. Jaxson Mahlstadt won the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.60, picked up a second in the 100 fly (52.94) and a third in the 200 breast at 2:13.78.
Other silver medal winners on the men's side were Noah May in the 200 fly (1:58.22), Alex Burkhardt in the 200 back (1:57.83) and Grant Lair in the 200 IM at 2:01.27.
The Bulldog men scored 481.1 points to finished second in the three-team event behind Saint Cloud (Minn.) State. Â
Reaser continued her strong collegiate start as she was the only female to win multiple events. She took first in the 200 fly (2:08.26), 500 free (5:05.22) and the 200 IM (2:07.72).Â
Four other Bulldogs claimed the top spot in their races. Kylie Strobl won the 200 free (1:58.55), Natalie Nguyen took the 100 back (1:00.24), Chloe Myers the 100 breast (1:06.37) and Emily Traube took a gold in the 100 free (54.25), a silver in the 100 breast (1:07.86) and a bronze in the 50 free (24.91).
The women finished with 465 points behind host Minnesota State and Saint Cloud but ahead of UW-LaCrosse.
The teams will swim against Saint Ambrose (Iowa) in a dual on October 29th in Davenport, Iowa.
