KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Illinois Springfield's leading scorer Lauren Ladowski scored 28 points, with 19 coming in the second half and the Prairie Stars downed the Truman State women 60-46 on Saturday afternoon in Pershing Arena.
The Bulldogs (16-8; 12-4 GLVC) took a 22-21 lead late in the second quarter but Ladowski scored a bucket at the buzzer to put UIS back in front. They would score eight straight to start the third and Truman did not score until Ellie Weltha's three-pointer with just over five minutes to play in the quarter.
UIS (15-7; 10-6 GLVC) built up a 20-point lead at 47-27 early in the fourth.
Weltha and Claire Rake hit a trio of triples down the stretch and Truman trimmed 10 points off the lead but UIS salted the game away at the free throw line going 15-of-18 in the fourth.
Both teams were ranked in the top four in scoring in the GLVC and both struggled shooting. UIS was slightly better than the Bulldogs at 29% compared to Truman's 28.8% for the game.
The Bulldogs will host William Jewell on Thursday in the final regular season home game of the season. Tip time is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.Â
