KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State women returned to the win column with a 73-61 victory over William Jewell (Mo) College in the regular season home finale on Thursday night.
Ellie Weltha and Hannah Belanger both topped 20 points and Weltha added 14 rebounds to go along with her game-high 21 as Truman (17-8; 13-4 GLVC) had to fend off hot shooting Jewell from outside.
The Cardinals (1-22; 0-17 GLVC)Â led by eight in the first quarter but Belanger rained in consecutive triples to spark an 11-0 run in the second as Truman led 36-29 at the break.
Jewell erased a 10-point Truman lead and led 49-48 before the end of the third. Allison Thomas' putback at the end of the quarter leapfrogged the Bulldogs back up 50-49.
Belanger would find Weltha with an entry pass as Truman got the opening possession of the fourth and a later three by Belanger would reestablish the 10-point lead at 61-51.
Thomas added 10 rebounds as Truman dominated the glass 42-25.Â
Katie Knock led the Cardinals with three of the team's 12 triples and finished with 17 points.
