WAYNE, Neb. - The Truman State Softball team missed out on some scoring opprotunites and fell in a pair of games on Sunday. The Bulldogs lost to Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) 3-0 and host Wayne State 5-4.
Truman will head to Chicago next weekend Rosemont Dome Tournament and face Wisconsin Parkside and Purdue (Ind.) Northwest on Thursday.Â

The Golden Bears scored a single run in the third and two in the sixth and made them hold up in a 3-0 shutout over the Bulldogs in the Sunday opener.Â
Emma Walbert and Callie Unrein started the game with singles but they went to waste as the McKenzie West lined out down the left field line, a strikeout and a pick off ended the inning.Â
A double play ended the second for Truman and the Bulldogs had two on in the fourth with one out but could plate a run.
In the fifth, Truman loaded the bases with Emily Eberwine singling and Kayla Quanstrum and Unrein each drawing a walks. A fly out to right field ended the threat.
Concordia would take that momentum and increase their 1-0 lead with a 2-run single to go up 3-0.
Truman had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh but a groundout to short ended the game.
Wayne State 5, Truman State 4
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Wildcats scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the second game 5-4.
Maria McGonegle got things started with an RBI fielder's choice to play Walbert in the first.
A bases loaded walk issued to Cameryn Patterson and later a wild pitch allowed two runs to score in the Truman third.
West singled in Walbert in the fourth for the 4-0 lead.
Brieanna Klein had allowed one hit until the sixth inning. Two singles compounded with an error loaded the bases to start the frame for Wayne State. An infield single put the Wildcats on the scoreboard followed by two runs scoring on a sac fly to left field.
A two-run homer by Paiton Tornberg pushed Wayne in front.
The Bulldogs put two runners on with two outs in the seventh but a force play at third base ended the game as darkness was beginning to fall.
