INDIANAPOLIS - The Truman Track & Field teams concluded the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. The men finished 8th with 20 points scored and the women were ninth with 14 points.
Day two started with the completion of the men's heptathlon with Jake Higgs finishing 12th with 3,579 points.
The Bulldogs first points of the day came in the men's shot put with Jacob Morris claiming the fifth spot with a career-best 15.72m throw. Brendan Baker was 10th with a measurement of 14.18m.
Madison Peavler picked up a point for the women with an eighth place showing in the women's shot. It was also a career-best mark for Peavler at 11.63 meters.
Sophie Oxandale ran in the finals of the 400 meter dash and clocked 59.57 to place seventh.
To close the team scoring it was the women's 4x400 meter relay squad of Cassidy Board, Natalie Smith, Oxandale and Alayna Pipkin. The team placed sixth with a time of 4:09.29.
Following the meet, Truman's Hally Blackwell and Thomas Cormier were the Bulldog honorees on the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award.
Next up will be the release from the NCAA on qualifiers for the Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas starting on March 11. Morris will be among the potential selections for the Bulldogs in the weight throw as he was 16th in the nation at press time.
The outdoor season will begin on March 26th at Missouri S&T.
