KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Baseball team fell Sunday 9-3 in the series finale to the Indianapolis Greyhounds, as the Greyhounds took the series 3-1 in the matchup of canines. Jakob Hughes (1-1) got the win for Indy while Alex Leary (3-4) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Leary had a 1-2-3 first, and an opposite field bomb from Holden Missey gave Truman a 2-0 run lead in the first. Indy struck back in the top of the second with one run after a one out single with an error allowed the runner to advance to third. A one out single drove the runner in, but Leary got out of a jam with runners on the corners with two straight strikeouts.
Truman got on the board again in the bottom of the fourth as Jake Schneider got a two out single to left center field and then Justin Maloney followed with a single to right that moved Schneider to third. A pass ball allowed Schneider to take home and give Truman a 3-1.
UIndy got one run in the top of the fifth and then in the top of the sixth a two run single gave the Greyhounds the lead—they struck for four in the frame to go up 6-3. From there they got three more as the Truman bats were unable to mount a late inning rally.
The Bulldogs will be off next weekend and will return to action on the 14th as they head to Evansville to take on Southern Indiana.
