KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Truman State Softball team saw their season come to a close on Sunday as they were shutout in a doubleheader by Rockhurst University by scores of 4-0 and 6-0.
Emma Walbert continued her blistering finish to her Bulldog career as she collected four more hits to go 12-for-14 (.857) over the weekend and raise her season batting average to .389. Walbert was 8-for-8 in yesterday's doubleheader against Southwest Baptist and matched the Bulldogs single-game mark of five hits in a game.Â
Game 1: Rockhurst 4, Truman State 0
Rockhurst scored all the runs they needed on one hit as Maya Gallagher knocked a grand slam in the fourth inning to down the Bulldogs in the opener.
A pair of walks and hit by pitch loaded the bases for Gallagher and she took a delivery over the fence.
Game 2: Rockhurst 6, Truman State 0
All six runs scored were accounted by via the long ball as Rockhurst went back-to-back in the third inning and added another two-run homer in the fifth.
A single and hit by pitch were later followed by a three-run shot from Calli Wibbenmeyer and Emily Clark rounded the bases after getting one fair over the left field fence.
In the fifth, a walk to Wibbenmeyer led to a two-run homer to left off the bat of Josie Lindemann.
Walbert had three of Truman's five hits in the game.
