BOLIVAR, Mo. - On day two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Track & Field Championships, Grace Feeney finished third in the heptathlon, Alayna Pipkin placed seventh in the 400-meter dash and Kirsten Poole finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Feeney set PRs in both the javelin and 800-meter run by scoring the most points she has had in the heptathlon with 4,488. She tossed the javelin 34.65 to place third as teammate Lea Moose placed second with her career-best toss of 42.13.
In the final event, Feeney ran 2:30.76 in the 800 to finish third.
Jake Higgs also eclipsed his decathlon point total from earlier by scoring 5,198 points and finished eighth. Higgs PR'ed in four of the five events on Saturday and for the event, eight of the 10. He threw the discus 27.73, javelin 37.72, cleared 3.50 on the pole vault and ran 5:15.08 in the 1500-meter run.
Jacob Morris scored the other team points for the men with a fourth place and PR in the javelin at 54.00 meters.Â
After advancing to the finals in their respective events on Friday, Pipkin ran 59.03 in the 400-meter dash to place seventh. Poole bettered her PR for the second straight 400-meter hurdle race as she ran 1:05.09 and took fourth.
Moose returned to the javelin runway for the field event and took third with a mark of 41.96 meters. Jaylynn Martin set a PR by throwing over 40 meters in the event at 40.62 and finished fifth.
Other bests on the afternoon were Lexy Henrikson and Evan AuBuchon in both the 1500-meter runs. Henrikson ran 4:53.42 in the women's race and AuBuchon went 4:07.24 in the men's contest
Both Bulldog teams finished in ninth position, the women scored 26 points and the men 23. Morris and Feeney were selected as the team's representatives to the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award for Track & Field.
