COLUMBIA, Mo. –
Cora Stimpson was the individual champion and the Truman Women's Cross Country took the team title at the Larry Young Invitational hosted by Columbia (Mo.) College on Friday event. The men were led by
Andrew Henton's 11
th place finish and a third place team showing.
Stimpson edged out Benedictine (Kan.) Caroline Cobo and Mary Rolwes to the finish line as Stimpson crossed at 18:59.10, Cobo at 19:00.59 and Rolwes at 19:01.69.
The top five scorers for Truman were in the top 13 as the team scored 41 points to Benedictine's 46.
Breanna Mathes was next in seventh position at 19:25.18,
Addie Mathis in ninth at 19:25.24,
Lexy Henrikson in 11
th at 19:32.33 and
Kate Yates in 13
th at 19:42.49.
Henton ran the 8K course at Gans Creek in 26:37.86 and missed the top 10 by 10 seconds.
Ryan Harness was next in 13
th at 26:43.34.
Nathan Key and Evan AuBuchon finished 22
nd and 23
rd respectively with Key finishing in 27:07.42 and AuBuchon at 27:13.62. The fifth Bulldog scorer was Jacob Gutzman in 32
nd with a time of 27:29.30.
Truman scored 100 points with Missouri S&T winning the team title with 49 followed by Benedictine with 68.
The Bulldogs return to action in Louisville, Kentucky on October 1
st.
