Salem's Collegiate Best Leads Truman Golf In Season Opener

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Truman women's golf team began their 2022-23 season at the Drury (Mo.) University Lady Panther Invite. The Bulldogs finished tied for 11th out of 15 teams with Catherine Salem topping the Bulldog fivesome with a 158, good for a tie for 25th position.

Salem shot a collegiate-best 76 on day two and a 36-hole low 158 to tie for 25th. After an 82 on day one, Salem birdied two of her first three hole to start on Tuesday. She was +2 through 17 holes and finished +4 on the day to vault up 19 spots on the final leaderboard.

Kara Hunt was the round one leader for the team after carding a four-over par 76. She was tied for seventh overnight and finished with a two-day total of 159 and placed in a tie for 27th.

Natalie Fatka and Reese Stovall tied for 62nd with scores of 166. Fatka went 82-85 and Stovall scored 81-85 in her debut for the Bulldogs. 

Jordan Marshall carded rounds of 88 and 83 to tie for 71st.

As a team, Truman shot 321 and 326 to tie with Evangel (Mo.) for 11th position. Christian Brothers (Tenn.) was the team champion with a two-day total of 610.

The Bulldogs return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the KC Cup event hosted by William Jewell (Mo.) College. The team will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at The Outlaw Course in Smithville, Missouri.
