KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State University women's golf enters the 2026 spring championship season looking to build momentum after a productive fall campaign. The Bulldogs were picked 12th in the preseason Great Lakes Valley Conference coaches' poll, receiving 23 points.
The team gained valuable competitive experience during the fall, competing in four tournaments and showing steady improvement as several golfers stepped up to lead the way.
Stovall Leads Strong Fall Performance
Senior Reese Stovall emerged as the Bulldogs' top performer during the fall season, consistently finishing at the top of tournament leaderboards. Stovall captured first place at the Columbia College Cougar Women's Fall Invitational, shooting 15-over par to earn medalist honors. She followed that with a sixth-place showing at The Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational (+18) and a seventh-place finish at the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate Invitational (+22). Her consistency continued with an 11th-place performance at the KC Cup (+12), demonstrating her ability to compete at a high level across different courses and conditions.
Experienced Core Provides Leadership
Sophomore Claire Jarrett showed significant growth throughout the fall season, highlighted by a second-place finish at the Columbia College Cougar Women's Fall Invitational (+18). Jarrett also posted a 17th-place showing at The Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational and gained valuable experience at the Dan Salisbury Memorial and KC Cup, finishing 37th and 32nd, respectively. Her improvement trajectory positions her as a key contributor for the spring season.
Senior Ana Gonzalez demonstrated steady performance throughout the fall, recording her best finish with a sixth-place showing at the Columbia College Cougar Women's Fall Invitational (+26). Gonzalez competed in all four fall tournaments, posting finishes of 24th at the KC Cup, 25th at The Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational, and 31st at the Dan Salisbury Memorial. Her consistency and experience will be valuable assets as the team enters conference competition.
Junior Madalyn Breckenridge gained experience across all four fall events, with her best performance coming at the Columbia College Cougar Women's Fall Invitational where she finished 18th (+45). She also competed at The Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational (33rd), KC Cup (31st), and Dan Salisbury Memorial (33rd), continuing to develop her game throughout the fall.
Freshman Haley Rausch saw action at the Columbia College Cougar Women's Fall Invitational, gaining valuable tournament experience that will benefit her development heading into the spring season.
Looking Ahead to Championship Season
The Bulldogs face a highly competitive GLVC landscape in the spring. Indianapolis was selected as the preseason favorite after winning their 17th conference championship and finishing 16th at the NCAA Championships. The Greyhounds are currently ranked 11th in Division II by Clippd Rankings and return three All-GLVC First Team selections, including individual medalist Caroline Whallon.
Missouri-St. Louis was picked second in the preseason poll and is ranked 26th nationally. The Tritons return GLVC Player of the Year Wilma Zanderau, Freshman of the Year Mayan Covarrubias, and two additional All-GLVC First Team honorees. Lewis, McKendree, Illinois Springfield, Maryville, and Drury round out the top seven teams expected to contend for conference honors.
With a strong foundation built during the fall season, the Bulldogs have shown the ability to compete and improve throughout the year. Led by Stovall's medalist performance and senior leadership, along with support from the developing sophomore and junior classes, Truman State will look to continue its upward trajectory when the championship portion of the season begins in the spring.
The experience gained during the fall, combined with the competitive depth across the roster, positions the Bulldogs to make strides in the highly competitive GLVC as they work toward earning a spot in the conference championship tournament.
The spring season will kick off at the Southern Arkansas Collegiate Tournament in El Dorado, Arkansas, with the three day tournament taking place between March 8th and March 10th. The GLVC Championships will be held from April 16th to April 18th in Peru, Indiana as the conclusion to the Bulldogs' four tournament spring schedule.
