KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State volleyball won their first match of the season in a thrilling 3-2 victory over McKendree.
The Bulldogs won the first set 25-21 and dominated the second set, winning 25-16 before the Bearcats stormed back and won the third and fourth sets 25-19 and 25-18.
The fifth set was a back-and-forth slugfest, with each team trading points. Truman went up 14-10 before McKendree fought back and scored four points in a row to tie it up. Two costly Bearcat mistakes ended up giving Truman the win in the fifth set 16-14.
Hanna Berry, Annabelle Crowder, and Allison Beaton led Truman in kills with 12, 11, and 10 respectively.
The Bulldogs recorded four aces, with two coming from Jessica Proszenyak, and one each from Lexi Arnel and Emma Baierl.
Baierl continues to rack up the assists, with 22 in the match.
Truman volleyball plays University of Indianapolis Saturday, October 1, at 3:00 p.m. in Pershing Arena.
